Crazy Road Trip Summer 2011: Day 2

Bill and I spent the second day of our trip in Redwood National Park and some of the surrounding redwood state parks. It was awesome! The sheer size of the trees is unbelievable! Can you see me in this picture?
Look at one of them compared to Bill!

When you walk in the redwood forest it is completely silent and still except for the chirping of birds. The forest is very damp with very little light from the trees blocking out the sun. Everything is covered in moss, ferns, and wildflowers. It's so beautiful!

We also went hiking in an area called Fern Canyon, where they filmed part of Jurassic Park:

and were also able to hike around by the coast.

We saw several really tame elk that just sat there while we took pictures. This one looks like a statue:

After a day in the redwoods, we went to dinner, and then to Patrick's Point State Park right down the street and took sunset pictures:

Check out my blog tomorrow to hear about day three of our trip in Russian Gulch! Take a look at the full set of my pictures on my facebook album.
